Outdoor professionals

“Seek first the kingdom of nature, that the kingdom of people may be realized” —WiLli unsoeld

I specialize in therapy for people whose profession brings them into high-risk, high-reward situations—mountain guides, ski patrollers, backcountry search and rescue members, avalanche forecasters, outdoor instructors, park and forest service rangers, wildland firefighters and anyone engaged in this unique work.

Mountain athletes

This includes ultra-runners, skimo racers, professional climbers and skiers, and anyone who professionally pursues an outdoor sport as a means for maintaining their livelihood. There is a specific culture in these spaces, and some very particular issues that plague individuals in this world; novelty and stimulation seeking, pressure and achievement, self-abuse and self-neglect, restlessness; it helps to have a therapist who understands.

Outdoor enthusiasts

Rock climbing and mountaineering, backcountry skiing, fishing, backpacking and distance hiking, trail running; the list could go on forever. There are some surprising connections between our draw to nature and outdoor activities that I have extensive experience in addressing with my clients.

The Climate concerned

For many people, Climate Change is considered the most important issue of our time. Anxiety, despair, hopelessness, fear, anger; the fact that our climate is changing rapidly can induce strong, sometimes paralyzing feelings. I am uniquely equipped to help you address these issues in the specific context of your life.
