A little bit about me as a clinician and a person
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Colorado, Utah, Washington State and Montana, and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social worker in Vermont and Massachusetts.
I am a Certified Group Psychotherapist, a designation granted by a committee of the American Group Psychotherapy Association indicating advanced specialization in group therapy. I have been working professionally with groups for 20 years, 10+ as a psychotherapist.
I'm a member of the following professional associations:
National Association of Social Workers (NASW)
American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA), Clinical Member and Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP)
Climate Psychology Alliance
I served 10 years as a group facilitator, outdoor educator and in higher education administration before I pursued training as a clinician. I find that the diversity of my professional experiences keeps me grounded in my humanity and helps me in my current role as a therapist.
My undergraduate work focused on self-psychology at Colorado College in Colorado Springs and I pursued clinical training through the tradition of Clinical Social Work at Smith College, where I completed clinical rotations at Bennington College's Psychological Services and the Brattleboro Retreat's Adolescent Residential program. I've since been in practice in Boulder County where I have served as a clinician at a community mental health clinic as well as a transitional program for young adults in addition to my practice in Lafayette. I specialize in concurrent group and individual therapy. To learn more about my groups, click here.
I am passionate about the outdoors, engaging in a variety of activities in the nearby mountains with my wife, our young son and our two hounds. Hiking, climbing, mushroom hunting/foraging, fly-fishing; I have plenty to do during the summers. In the winter I can often be found Nordic skiing, and have instructed for several years at the Eldora Nordic Center and elsewhere across Colorado.
